Reversing diabetes: Tips and research

According to the CDC (Disease Control and Prevention Center), an estimated 25.8 million Americans suffer from some form of diabetes.
Lifestyle options leading to diabetes include eating a lot of sugary foods, refining carbohydrates, and easily converting them to sugar (such as pastries or bread) without exercise .
Christian K. Roberts, an assistant professor at the UCLA department of nursing, has conducted several studies on health and lifestyle choices and suggests that diabetes can be reversed.
In 2005, Roberts co-authored a study highlighting the outcome of five different studies covering subjects altering 864 living habits to measure the effects on diabetic condition. As a result of combination, about 75% of subjects taking oral hypoglycemic drugs were able to recover diabetes, and about 50% of insulin patients were able to stop taking medication.
In a small peer-reviewed study that lasted about three weeks the following year, Roberts was able to restore diabetes in about half of subjects diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome. Thirty-one men who participated in this trial performed cardiovascular exercise of 45 to 60 minutes on a treadmill every day and carried out hypoglycemic vegetable diet therapy.
"I do not know exactly how long it will take to recover diabetes, but as you can see, it does not take much time to strengthen the plan," Roberts said.
Roberts acknowledged that the majority of diabetic patients not participating in intensive research projects may not be able to undo their state in such a short period of time.
Roberts added, "Depending on the extent to which diabetes patients change their lives, it will take several weeks or months to reverse this situation," he added that diabetes needs to eat fruit from the diet. And vegetables, whole grains, small amounts of meat, and perhaps most importantly, no sophisticated carbohydrates
"People suffering from diabetes, especially those suffering from type 2 diabetes, if they regain the lifestyle causing diabetes first, they will become diabetic again," he said. "What is certain is that there is no cure."
