1 During the reign of the judge, [a] the land had famine. So the man from Bethlehem in Judah and his two sons' wives lived in Moab for a while. 2 That person's name is Elimelech, his wife's name is Naomi, and the names of their two sons are Marlon and Kirion. They are other people of Israel, from Bethlehem in Judah. They went to Moab and lived there.
3 Now Naomi's husband Elimele died. And she left with her two sons. 4 They married a Moabite woman. One is called Olpa and the other is called Ruth. After living there for about 10 years both Marlon and Killion died. Naomi did not have her two sons and her husband.
6 When Naomi was in Moab and heard that the Lord helped people by providing food to them, her and her daughter-in-law was ready to go home from there. 7 She left the place where she lived with her mother-in-law and left on her way to the land of Judah.
8 Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "You are all at your mother's house, the Lord will give you mercy as you have shown to your deceased husband Please find a break at another husband 's house. "
Then she kissed them and met them again.
11 But Naomi said, "My daughter is going home, why are you going with me, can you have more sons to be your husband? Even if I still think there is hope - even if I have my husband tonight and bore my son afterwards - 13, are you waiting for them to grow? Unmarried? Because my daughter, the hand of the Lord is hostile to me, this is more painful to me than you. "
14 At this point they also cried loudly. Then Orpa kissed her mother-in-law to see you again, but Ruth clung to her.
15 "Look," Naomi said, "Your nephew will return to her people and her god, come back with her."
16 But Ruth answered, "Do not encourage me to leave you or to leave you, I will go where you go, I will be where you come out, your people will be my Your God is mine. " When you die, O God, I will die. Lord deal with me, and even if you die, you will be separated from me. 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth decided to go with him, she no longer encouraged himself.
19 So the two women continued their trip to Bethlehem. When they arrived at Bethlehem, the whole town was excited thanks to them and the women cried out, "Is this probably Naomi?"
20 "Do not call Naomi," she said. "Call me me, [c] Because the Almighty has hurt my life so much.21 I totally walked away, but the Lord brought me back. Why did you call me Naomi The Almighty brought me unhappiness. "
22 So Naomi came back from Moab and came to Bethlehem with Moses the daughter of wheat. The barley harvest began.
Ruth expressed her loyalty to Naomi with a solemn oath, and she judges herself if she left her (Ruts 1:17). Ruth also promised to obey the god of Naomi (Reuters 1: 16). She gave up Moab's god and Ruth and Naomi will be dedicated to the only true God of Israel. Ruth said, "No matter how serious it is, even though death will separate you from me," the Lord uses the name of Jehovah of the covenant. Naomi was convinced that Ruth was serious. "When Naomi realized that Ruth decided to go with him, she will no longer urge her (Ruth 1: 18)" Silk and Naomi went to Bethlehem together.
Ruth and Naomi are family. Since Ruth got married to Naomi's son, they have lived for a while. Ruth and Naomi had a strong relationship before Ruth decided to go to Israel with my mother-in-law. According to Ruth 2:11, Ruth says, "I resigned from my father and my mother, and now I have lived with people I did not know." . It is worth noting when Ruth said: "If death is distancing you from me, no matter how serious you are, let the Lord deal with me" (v.17), she Use the name of the contract Yahweh
