Burger, Arthur-Artha. (1998). Symbol of contemporary culture: introduction of semiotics (2nd edition). Salem, Wisconsin: Sheffield. This book is for those who are not used to semiotic thinking. We explore the basic concept of semiotics and the application of these concepts in all aspects of modern society. Each chapter contains the discussion and application of the concept of semiotics. Burger, Arthur-Artha. (2012). Culture Code California Mill Valley: Marine Art Press. This book shows that the "culture" we describe can be seen as a series of different codes that shape our thoughts and behaviors. It includes the way we cook steaks, think about Playboy, explain jokes, and rituals related to smoking.
First of all, there is a long history in semiotics. Posner divided it into six types: the concept of ancient Greece and Rome, the semiotic history of ancient and medieval, medieval Western, contemporary Western, contemporary Western, non-Western music history. (History and theory, Chinese Journal, 1988. P116-117). The history of semiotics dates back to 3000 BC. However, until the 1960s, the semioticism was regarded as an independent discipline that appears in France, the United States, and the Soviet Union. Second, Se semi theory is complex and extensive science. Li Youzheng also divided the symbolic science into three parts. Linguistic semantics, general semiotics, and cultural symbology. Linguistic semantics uses linguistics, linguistics, semantics, stylistic theory and rhetoric. Linguistic semantics MUST use some theme adjustments to explore the meaning of symbols. Compared to language semiotics, probably the general semiotics is simpler.
In front of my thesis I analyze religious symbols through cultural symbolism and general semiotics. In fact, the semiotics have been divided into language semiotics, general semiotics, and cultural symbology. Religious symbols are diverse in shape and rich in content. They are full of symbols or contain symbolic meanings. We must analyze the present situation and influence of contemporary semiotics from both surface and essence. On the surface, semiotics is not an independent field. Scientific research results are not obvious, and some of the results lack quality. Essentially, semiotics is widely used in most humanities sciences. More and more famous scholars are engaged in the study of semiotics. This phenomenon reflects the vitality of semiotics. In Li Youzheng's "Introduction to Theoretical Semiotics", the authors introduce the complexity of semiotics.
