Major Weaknesses of Qualitative Research

Introduction Qualitative research provides an explanation of specific events and supports the theory based on research questions. Unlike calculated and measured quantitative data, qualitative data is collected by words, opinions, opinions, attitudes, behaviors. Qualitative data is often used to interpret statistical results. The main weakness of qualitative research is focused on individuals, researchers and research topics. Subjectivity, the impact of personal prejudice, and the connection / lack of research theory are all potential problems.
The collection of quantitative and qualitative data neutralizes the weakness of each form of data. Triangulation data source - a means for convergence over qualitative and quantitative methods - was born (Jick, 1979). By the early 1990s, the hybrid approach changed to a system fusion of quantitative databases and qualitative databases and the idea of integrating into various types of research designs emerged. These types of designs are widely debated in 2003 in major handbooks in this area (Tashakkori & Teddlie, 2010). The procedure for extending the hybrid method is as follows.
Triangulation, a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, enables qualitative researchers to overcome the weaknesses of various technologies. Qualitative researchers do not believe there is only one reality, and that different research practices reveal different perspectives. Using triangulation means that researchers use different data sets, different types of analyzes, different researchers, and / or different theoretical perspectives to study particular phenomena. As with traditional qualitative studies, behavioral research often uses qualitative methods, including observation and research techniques.
The qualitative approach to knowledge and method of nursing research is related to the qualitative research such as phenomenology, the theoretical theory, ethnographic journalism and the logic of the main type of qualitative research. Data collection, data management, data analysis, and the process of creating and verifying conclusions. Emphasis is placed on developing the ability to critically analyze written reports on qualitative nursing research.
