There are many other examples, but the flood in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1889, was another "big flood" in the United States. Two natural disasters have devastating effects on the region's economy. A serious drought in 1930 caused the crop to fail again and exacerbated the economic situation during the Great Depression. Residents of Pine Bluff are confused to survive. In 1930, two major banks were closed. From the late 1920s to the early 1930s, the provincial highway construction project promoted trade between Pinebruff and other communities in southeastern Arkansas. This was also important for Jefferson County. After President Franklin Roosevelt appointed in 1933, he launched a number of government programs to benefit the community. Through the Work Progress Authority (WPA) and funding for public works projects, Pine Bluff established a new school and football stadium and developed Auckland Park as the first major entertainment facility.
