How Fire Works

Fire can destroy your house and all your wealth within an hour It can change the whole forest to the mountain of ash and charcoal. It is also a terrible weapon with almost infinite destructive power. Fire kills more than every other natural force every year
But at the same time the fire was very useful. It provides the first form of portable light and heat to humans. It also allows us to cook food, forge metal utensils, shape pottery, solidify bricks and drive power plants. It hardly hurts human beings like fire, and it rarely goes so well. It is undoubtedly one of the most important forces in human history. But what exactly is that?
The ancient Greeks believed that fire was one of the major elements of the universe with water, earth, and air. This grouping has an intuitive meaning. Just like feeling soil, water, air, you can feel the fire. You can also see and smell it, you can move it from one place to another
However, the fire is really different. Earth, water and air are all in the form of matter, and they are made up of millions of atoms. Fire is not a problem. It is a visible, obvious side effect of material change - it is part of a chemical reaction
How does fire work? It is closely related to air. Three things are necessary for fire: oxygen, fuel, and heat. Because it depends on oxygen, fuel and available heat, the strength of the fire is different. If all three things are managed like a candle or a bonfire, a fire is considered useful. However, when one or more of these matters are not controlled, like a forest fire or a burning building, a fire can easily be very dangerous. In order to extinguish the fire, it is necessary to remove oxygen, fuel and heat. Fire will extinguish the fire without oxygen, so you will suffocate by placing a blanket or dirt on it. The earth supplies a large amount of fuel in the form of fossil fuels such as wood and coal. When the fuel is removed, nothing in the fire can burn and disappear. Water is an effective source of cooling by taking heat away from the fire.
Fire requires three elements - heat, oxygen and fuel. Without heat, oxygen and fuel, no fire will occur. An important strategy to prevent a fire is to remove one or more heat, oxygen, or fuel. Risk assessment should include detailed information on all three elements to minimize the risk of fire outbreak and spread. In general, thermal work is done by construction and / or maintenance work. Heat treatment is a job that can generate enough heat, spark or flame to cause a fire. Heat treatment includes other flame-built equipment such as welding, flame cutting, welding, brazing, grinding, and flame. Hot work such as tar boilers can be extremely dangerous and must be tightly controlled
There are fire detectors on every ship. However, there are different types of fire detectors for each location. In the workplace, smoke and open flames continue to occur by welding work. Therefore, please do not place in this area because thermal detector is the most suitable or certified hot work area. In the engine control room, a smoke detector is used. Direct fire may occur due to abnormal conditions in areas near boilers and incinerators. Therefore, the most appropriate types of fire detectors are ionized smoke detectors and infrared flame detectors. Smoke detectors are usually used throughout the engine room. Flame detectors are used near fuel processing equipment such as purifiers, purifiers, air conditioners, heat filters, etc.
