Zoos and Aquariums: A Barbaric Institution

In most respects it is advantageous to keep wild animals in zoos or aquariums, but what we do not understand is that they live in a vast space. Society assumes that all these animals need to be handed over to them, so that they are happy to take them out of their natural habitat and put them in the fence and cage. David Suzuki says, "What gives us the right to use other creatures that we consider appropriate?" (681). Selfish, people have proved that zoo and aquarium are educational benefits for children.

An important way to understand the validity of US zoos or aquariums is to make sure that it is recognized by the Zoo Aquarium Association (AZA). The certification process includes reviews and inspections to evaluate candidates and member institutions for violations of mandatory standards. A complete list of AZA certification bodies can be obtained at www.aza.org. If they are not accredited, it is best to stay away from them. I will continue to listen to people who claim that the zoo exists solely to make money. We stopped there. Look at what their status is. If it is a nonprofit organization, you need to plan (and check them) for animals, communities, and education. Real non-profit organizations do not become rich to earn money.
