Zhan Wang: My Personal Universe

In November of this year, UCCA welcomed the long-awaited sculpture and video installation from Beijing respected sculptor Joe Wang.

Zhan Wang showed his series of stainless steel lockers in an impressive venue's resume and further raised it to the top of the mountain. Over the exhibition space, more than 7,000 stainless steel replicas are decorated from explosive stone fragments. Those shining surfaces infinitely reflect the explosive lenses and create infinite abyss that is reminiscent of the birth of the universe.

The exhibition is further subdivided into two separate, but continuous "facets" - external and indigenous - exploring the complementary aspects of the artist's private universe. Using two different installation methods and video methods, these two "faces" illuminate the outer universe and the universe therein.
