Zeena in Ethan Frome

Ethan From, Edin Wharton's novel Ethan Frome, Ethan's wife, Gina, played an important role in the novel. Gina changed Ethan through their marriage and her illness. This is very interesting when Zeena is actually found to be Ethan's cousin. It is doubtful whether Gina is sick. She often seems to be depressed. In the novel, the narrator states "Gina, she is always the best doctor in the county" (5). If Zeena is the most useful doctor she will be able to help care for herself while helping others.

Zenobia (Zeena) is an unfortunate wife of Ethan Frome who is suffering from illness. When the novel occurred, she was 35 years old. Her hair is gray, clothes are expressed as "Slat Lee", and we are doing "adjustment of the dentures" before meals. Zeena first came to Farme Farmhouse to help Ethan take care of his sick, crazy mother and feel "shameful" for her efficiency. The couple 's marriage plan is to move to a big town after selling farms and sawmills. But Zeena did not want to live on an isolated farm, but she lost her identity and could not tolerate moving to the city Ethan was thinking. In the year of marriage, she became sullen, like his mother, and then silenced. As Ethan saw, her only privilege was to make him miserable.

Zenobia "Zeena" is Ethan's cousin and wife. Zeena first came to the farm farm to help take care of the parents of Ethan. When they all died, Ethan thanked Gina and asked her to stay as his wife.
