Young People's Participation in the Voting Process

Every year, the US government spends billions of dollars to spread democratic ideals all over the world. At the same time, citizens of this great country seem to be reluctant to share love for democracy and lead to a continuous decline in voter turnout rate. Like many American acts, the desire to vote is that we need to teach it when we were young. If a potential voter starts as soon as possible, they will continue voting as they age. Therefore, it is important to target young voters.

As a society, we need to do more to encourage young people to be interested in and participate in government choices. Voting is not an event that happens only once a year. It is a routine process that involves gathering and summarizing information that can make informed decisions and opinions. If young people in Japan do not teach the importance of voting after November, how can we expect to come to think more things? I think that it is necessary to repair the course which is currently used to teach elementary and junior high school students considerably. Of course, it is important to understand the check-and-balance system and historical events that define who we are. However, if students can not see such behavior today, they may not hold any of these facts and figures in the future!

Voting may be the most important part of the Democratic government. Unfortunately, young people in our country are not very active in political participation. There are many reasons not to vote. Some of the reasons why young people do not participate are that they do not know enough about candidates and the voting process. Others feel difficult to register to vote or do not know how to register. Still others think that they are one person and can not work. If a lot of people take this view and many people think so, it may mean that hundreds of votes have been lost. This can determine the fate of the candidate. Some games fell to the last 50 or 100 votes. At other times, candidates are leading the pre-contest, so if the voters can make a decision, a decision has been made. In such elections, if a supporter comes out and the staff of the main candidate fails to vote, the loser may win.

Millions of people vote, but each vote must pick the right candidate for that country. The voting process is an entrance to all types of citizen participation, especially when young people are faced with big challenges such as unemployment, student loans, educational policy. If we support them and encourage voting, it certainly helps to train a group of new and contemporary responsible citizens who actively participate in building a prosperous country.
