Yinka Shonibare MBE RA (born 1962) is an Englishman living in the UK - a Norwegian artist. His work is exploring cultural identity, colonialism and post colonialism in the context of modern globalization. One of the characteristics of his art is the vivid color of Dutch wax fabric he is using. Shonibare used his assistant to work under his guidance due to a physical disability that crushed one side of the body. Incasibibare was born in London in 1962. When he was three years old, his family moved to Lagos in Nigeria. At the age of 17, he returned to the UK and did A level at Redrice School. Shonibale had transverse myelitis at the age of 18. Yale British Art Center gets Yinka Shonibare MBE (RA) artwork for wise Princess exhibition
Famous in the UK - Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare MBE is known for the use of eye-catching colors and patterns among culturally thoughtful works. Shonibare has long been interested in exploring art history and colonial themes while breaking through the well-known "good taste" boundary. This publication provides unique insight into the world view of Shonibare. The artist chose Adolf Loos' influential anti-decorative lecture, decoration and crime and inspired us from the collection of art committees and other major collections. From sculpture and painting to fashion and design, these pieces tell the story of things that refuse to be restricted.
