The following are 25 occupations that can be considered in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. These are not "on-line information" on the back cover but the SOC is decided by examining all job selections in the selected cluster. Sometimes you can find data about your career earlier by searching their SOC. All occupation selections within the g & math cluster - they are merely samples showing different occupations of different education levels. Ideal for your talent and ambition. The following is a description of the type of information displayed in each column. Education: This is the lowest level of education in career in the United States. This could be a short-term on-site training to a doctoral course requiring a college degree for several years.
Carrier cluster is a group of occupations with specific characteristics and a wide range of industries. For example, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics clusters include chemists and civil engineers. In Texas, we use the same 16 CareerClusters® (see back cover) as those specified and developed by the US Department of Education. As shown in the following figure, each cluster has a carrier path. This is a more specific group of similar occupations. Please consider career path as university major. In science, technology, engineering, mathematics, you can choose to focus on high school and university engineering and technology, or science and mathematics. Associated Career Each career path includes various related occupations; mechanical engineers are examples of engineering and technology professionals. Choosing career groups and career paths will help you gain the knowledge and skills you need to enter the career you have chosen.
