More than 50 years ago, the federal government conducted major nuclear weapons experiments at 75 miles outside Las Vegas. Every time it explodes, toxic radioactive material accumulates in the air and even enters the land. This flow caused a lot of groundwater contamination. Since the last test cycle of the 1991 Plowshares program, the Nevada National Security Base has kept nuclear warheads under its facilities for more than two decades. It is interesting to understand the extent of actual damage to groundwater and aquifers on the ground due to population growth in Nevada state and our current water crisis.
Ingestion: Intake of plastics may be done intentionally or indirectly by ingestion of food containing plastics, and at least 233 species of sea turtle species (over one third of seals) are recorded. A proportion of 59% of whale seeds and seabirds 34 also recorded the intake of 92 fish and 6 invertebrates. The size of the ingested material is ultimately limited by the size of the organism. Very small particles such as plastic fibers can be absorbed by small organic matter like filtered edible oysters or mussels; larger materials such as plastic film, tobacco case and food packaging are big fish In extreme cases sperm whales have been shown to consume very large substances such as 9 meter rope, 5 meter hose, 2 flowerpots, large plastic sheets, etc.
Every year hundreds of thousands of seabirds are taking plastics. Ingestion of plastics reduces the amount of stored stomach and causes hunger. It is estimated that 60% of all seabird species consumed plastic chips, and this number is expected to increase to 99% by 2050. Dying seabirds often find the stomach filled with plastic, reflecting the rapid increase in the volume of sea garbage over the past 40 years. Marine mammals ingest plastics and entangle. At the very hazardous Hawaiian Monk Seal habitat, a large amount of plastic fragments including young areas were found. Entanglement of plastic pieces also caused injuries and deaths of thoroughly threatening milk thistle, the most common entanglement material. The dead whale's belly turned out to be filled with plastic
