In 1507, Martin Waldseemüller published the world map Universals Cosmographia. This is the first map surrounded by water, separating North America and South America from Asia. A small illustration on the main map clearly shows that the United States is located in East Asia across the sea from Asia, rather than placing the United States on the left side of the map and placing Asia on the right side. Waldseemüller pointed out that the earth is divided into four parts, Europe, Asia, Africa and Part IV, in the book "Cosmographiae Introductionctio" and named "America" in the name of Amerigo Vespucci . On the map, the word "America" is located in a part of South America.
One year after Christopher Columbus's death in 1507, the first world map showing these sea of new discoveries appeared. The cartographer Martin Waldseemüller named the Italian Amerigo Vespucci "America". It explored South America's coastline and first recognized that it was an independent continent, not part of Asia. Columbus was not the first explorer to 'discover' the United States. His voyage is very important as it is the first voyage widely known in Europe. They opened the way from the old world to the new world, opened up the European conquest and the way to America in the colonial era, and changed the life forever on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
