World Environment Day

World Environment Day is held on June 5 every year in more than 100 countries. This is one of the most popular days of the United Nations calendar. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of national environmental problems and promote action.

In commemoration of World Environment Day, organizations gathered from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), United Nations Premier, Prime Minister, Minister, VIP, and from all over the world are participating.

Different host cities are recommended each year, allowing countries to show positive progress at national, regional and international levels to promote sustainable practices and mitigate the impact of climate change.

New Zealand, in collaboration with UNEP, held World Environment Day in 2008. Wellington is a host city, World Environment Day will be celebrated positively in New Zealand to promote the theme of "Kicking Carbon Habits" in 2008.
