WGS plans Barbara Hamilton Leadership Award and Academic Achievement Award annually to research experts and minors of WGS and LGBT QIA. These were issued at the luncheon of the winter semester. The Mary Van Sell scholarship is awarded once a year, sometimes twice. The scholarship is $ 2,000 and students must be eligible for economic assistance. Professor Hamilton began her writing and rhetoric career at the University of Auckland in 1972. While acquiring a PhD in Rhetoric and Compositional Studies at the University of Southern California, he taught various levels of composition and composition education until retiring in 2010 and obtaining a temporary status.

One of the highlights of her work at the OU is her dedication to the creation of her work in a women's research project with other faithful colleagues, and the creation of women's studies (now women and gender studies) It was a year. For many years, she is a member of the Female Research Executive Committee heading a women's research conference and has hosted many women's research parties and picnics at her property Bittersweet Farm.

The WGD program currently offers opportunities for internship through the Virginia Women's Research Center and the Gender Research Program and Geography Department. In the women's and gender research program, students are critically thinking about the status of women in modern society and at the same time they are encouraged to discover lost content of past women's contributions. Women and gender studies prepare students for employment and postgraduate work through arts and humanities, business and economics, a variety of interdisciplinary programs of schools of health and society and behavior science.
