Witchcraft in the Salem Village and The Crucible

Magic became death sentences in New England in the 17th century. Hysteria about this is caused by a group of girls. (Kent 95). Magic is considered a terrible crime in Europe; that penalty is to die or hang up. (Doran 8). Everyone in the village of Salem believes in magic, and only a few people are trying to use magic. (Kent 18) In 1692, Salem Village hysteria is a major event in American history and will never be forgotten. Fear plays an important role in The Crucible, the main reason why Salem's village is very serious in dealing with magic.
