Enchanting winter and temptation of the donor party tells the story of Downer Party in an unprecedented way. Unlike many books on this story about suffering, cannibalism and survival, it is primarily about the Breen experience, a large family belonging to the donor party. The author of the book, Joseph A. King, wants to write this story as accurately as possible without bias or fictitious legends. Many of the books previously written in the donor party case are biased and unreliable.
George and Tamsen donor's children were taken away by an old couple near Satter's Fort. Eliza was 3 years old from 1846 to 1847 and was the youngest among Downer 's children. In 1911 she published an account of the Downer Party based on the account printed and her sister's account. Isavera, the youngest daughter of Brean, was the last survivor of the Downer Party at the age of 1 in the winter from 1846 to 1847. She died in 1935. The children of Graves have a different life. Mary Graves got married soon, but her first husband was murdered. She cooked his murderer's food in prison to ensure that the man sentenced before he was hanged is not starving. Mary's grandson realized she was very serious; Graves said "I can cry but I can not, I will know how to cry again if I can forget this tragedy" said. It will not be resolved at important points
Patrick Breen is a member of the Donor Party and recorded their suffering diary in the winter from 1846 to 1847. His explanation was first published in Nashville, Tennessee in the spring of 1847 and was published in a book published in 1879. We joined the story three weeks after the donor party arrived at the blockade Pass: I came to this place on 31st of last month and entered the pass; very deep snow, we are in the mountain Three miles from the top could not find this street and back to the hut of Lake Trussi, the next day we arrived here, Stanton came and we took the team and van again, and with Stanton I tried again to cross the company. It's snowing. We are now killing most cows, staying here till next spring, we have to rely on red beef. There is neither bread nor salt.
Speaking of the weather, the recent winter in Montana province is truly amazing. By contrast, let's say the Downer Party has to endure in the winter, walk in the park. On 3 October last year, a snowstorm covered over 12 inches of snow occurred in the northern part of the state. This is the beginning of over 400 inches above the ski resort in my town. So it may not be suitable for winter unless you want to snow shovel or eat your neighbor and end it.
