Microsoft demonstrated Windows 7 and its redesigned taskbar at PDC 2008. On December 27, 2008, Windows 7 Beta leaked to the Internet via BitTorrent. Windows 7 was released by Microsoft on October 22, 2009. For image-based installations of Windows 7, we use the file-based disk image format WIM (Windows Imaging). WIM was introduced in Windows Vista. When performing a fresh installation of Windows 7 using a DVD, we actually applied the WIM image to the hard disk. This WIM file is located in the Sources folder on the Windows 7 product DVD and is named Install.wim. Diskpart - This is a built-in command line tool for disk configuration.
