William Carlos Williams and the New American Culture

William Carlos William's poem advocates two philosophies in his life. These ideas are not exactly opposite, but they are not completely mutually supportive. The first thing is that he is refusing to dream of America - I believe that by working hard I will succeed. Regarding American dreams, it is important to pay attention to Williams' success in the framework of American society. The second goal seems to be to create a new, perfect American culture. As a member of the Modernist movement, Williams is different from many of his contemporaries. It is not because he is totally different, but for his attitude towards literature.

William Carlos Williams was one of the largest poets in America in the 20th century and his wonderful career has spanned for half a century. From a pediatrician in Rutherford, New Jersey until the 1963 Pulitzer Prize, William Carlos Williams had a lasting influence on American poetry and literature. He is the source of inspiration for many people and his clear and profound use of modern language and environment is certainly a poetic voice in contemporary America. Williams was born in 1883 as a British businessman and a mother of France - Pueliman. He studied at Horesmens School in New York and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. After opening a private clinic, Williams began his professional career as a respected pediatrician, a wealthy writer and poet.
