The Republic of South Africa should not be confused with South Africa, it is a republic located at the southern tip of Africa. The first people living in this area were nomads from the north looking for new places to live. Today, the population of South Africa is a mixture of several ethnic groups. The modern history of South Africa began in 1488 when the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias landed in Mossbay around the so-called Cape of Good Hope. Even those who first discovered the African continent on the European Continent, many Portuguese explorers are following him and have little interest in colonization. Stormy weather and rocky areas in the area are likely to destroy their ships and attempting trade with local indigenous peoples often end in a conflict
