The book will not disappear. "Prairie hut" and "Good night's moon" are my favorite childhood books, this is part of my daily routine before going to bed. My mother stuffed me into a comfortable bed and confirmed that I read books for her and she would sit with me and read it until I fell asleep. I was not talking about the night when I was young; I could not sleep unless I was reading a book. I can not imagine the world where this option is no longer available.
So, what happens when the extinction rate goes up? This is one of the issues discussed by New York scientist Elizabeth Colbert in her new book, the science of extinction and the Sixth Extinction we explore ways to change our life on the planet. We talked about this topic by phone this week. Elizabeth Colbert: There is an interesting history. Until the early 19th century, there was no concept of extinction. Even in the early 19th century, Thomas Jefferson wanted to find Mastodon walking when he sent Lewis and Clark northwest. Excavated Mastodon's bone - a very famous bone which was excavated in New York and exhibited in Philadelphia - people still think they must exist somewhere
Mass extinction is a relatively rare event, but isolated extinction is common. Scientists are shocked by the current high extinction rate until recent extinction. The vast majority of extinct species have never been scientifically recorded. Some scientists estimate that by the year 2100, about half of existing flora and fauna may be extinct. When the last member dies, one species will be extinct. Thus extinction will be definite when surviving individuals can not breed and create new generations. When a small number of individuals survive, the species may be functionally extinct, health, age, large sparse distribution, lack of amphibian (sexual reproduction) or other reasons.
So what is the endangered species? What is an extinct species? What made them extinct? What do you need to do to protect endangered species from extinction? What can I do to save them? The answer to most questions is not knowledge of everyone. This theme gathers all the attention from organizations fighting the government and the environment, so it is ignored like ordinary people. Many people want help and donations, but few people actually do so. This is a very important topic, and it is necessary for ordinary people to take it seriously. Because they can truly make a difference, it needs to concentrate. People really do not understand the concept of extinction. Even if something disappears, it does not come back, there is no reset button. It disappeared forever. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to prevent more flora and fauna from disappearing.
