Why the title "The Outsiders?"

Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop each have each other. Everything greases each other a little away. If someone feels isolated to me, it is some Socs.

I have read some articles and comments, but none can clarify why this particular title was chosen.

There are many books, but the source of the title is clear. Please think clearly with other people. In this case, I have some theory, but nothing obvious to me.

The two main groups are Grease and Soc, but Soc is accepted in society. They are most powerful in the upper class. On the other hand, grease is the opposite.
