As a farmer's writer, people often ask me if I write down on how the losses of our farmers and farmland will have on them: "What is the importance of conserving farmland? "

There are obvious reasons, of course; there is a local farm, local food, or, as the American Farmland Trust (AFT) says, "There is no farm or food." Environment protectionists were founded in 1980 to "protect domestic best agricultural land and meadows and improve economic viability of agriculture".

The work of American Farmland Trust points out several reasons why it is so important to protect our farmland. They not only protect agricultural land but also promote local communities and small family farms, protect the local food system, promote healthy management, and protect soil and water quality.

By promoting communities and small family farms and farmlands, we can improve the quality of life in rural and urban communities. How about this. There are several reasons why preserving them is very important.

Agricultural land is a green ground, but most people do not think so. It is an important contributor to the quality of the environment. As mentioned by AFT, "Farms and meadows provide food and shelters for wildlife, prevent flooding, protect wetlands and basins, and maintain air quality."

And as I wrote about Care 2, there are even a group of farmers working on this, the Wild Farm Alliance protects and restores wild nature by promoting healthy and lively agriculture.

Agricultural land is essential to protect and promote regional food system programs. More and more regions and cities create local food systems and are trying to secure high quality and healthy food sources. In addition to supporting local farms to provide this service, it also reduces consumer costs by reducing the farmers' marketing costs by providing stable producers with a high revenue market.

Agricultural land brings economic stability to local governments and promotes economic development. It contributes to the infrastructure of the community, helping the regional economy through sales, creation of employment, support of services and projects.

One of the most unique support services is tourism, more specifically agricultural tourism. There are many places where you can see country scenery in certain areas such as Napa Valley winery in California, popular farm like Italy, enjoy food and drinks.

In the coming weeks, I will outline other methods as well as some specific agricultural tourism areas and destinations that you can help to support and save farmland in our country. To help you get started, please check the AFT Save Page for several ways to join.

Why is Harrison Town's square and farmland so important? In addition to the aesthetics that we all like, farms also provide food and work. Agricultural land and open spaces bring important environmental benefits such as flood prevention, wetlands and catchments, wildlife habitats and so on. Agriculture is part of the heritage of the country and the heritage of our town. Family-run farms are inherited from generation to generation, creating unique qualities that contribute to the quality of our lives. The Township Master Plan has always emphasized the necessity of open space and farmland. Current zoning and plans to protect our town will not be the next town in Washington. I will continue to support the "Rural Rights Law" in town. We will also raise awareness about the importance of agricultural land and open spaces by collaborating with municipal conservation committees and green teams and conducting exciting educational activities for schools and communities.

It can be said that farmland is the most important asset for maintaining life on the growing Earth. The world's population is increasing exponentially. Caring for and protecting farmland is essential for cultivating an increasing population. To protect our precious assets, the US Department of Agriculture has developed the Natural Resources Protection Service (NRCS). NRCS helps landowners reduce soil erosion, increase water supply, improve water quality, increase wildlife habitat and reduce damage from floods and other natural disasters.
