Why Natural Law Theory Is an Inadequate Criticism of Homosexuality

Albert Einstein said: "Common sense is a collection of prejudices acquired at the age of 18." (quote, 162) He has some truth in what is said in natural law theory. Natural law seems to be based at least in part on common sense. For this reason, this paper does not misunderstand natural law theory, proves that it is not applied when judging the ethical value of homosexuality, treats homosexuality as "perversion". Behavioristic utilitarianism explains this argument more clearly. Because the semantic contradiction from Kant's ethical theory will be discussed further.

Research on natural law theory in the second half of the 20th century applied the principle of natural law to problems of sexual behavior such as abortion, contraception, homosexuality etc. The essential value of sex (interest in marriage) lies in its ability to create a "combination of two people" that two people constitute "becoming organisms" (George 1999, p. 168). Because coincidence of sexual behavior is based on its reproductive function, sexual intercourse is only legally mandated by men and women without marriage. It is clear that the natural law of rationalization of sexual morality tends to reflect substantial Catholic doctrine supported by its main supporters.

There are two kinds of natural law theory: natural law theory of validity and natural law theory of morality. The legality theory of natural law believes that the contents of the law have the necessary moral constraints. Moral theory of natural law focuses on the nature, reasons, and principles of morality. Many people agreeing on natural law ethics also agree with the law of natural law, but these two theories are logically independent. Those who accept legal theory may not accept moral theory, and natural law ethic theorists consistently believe that the law is traditional, unlike morality.
