Why do most Filipinos have a crab mentality?

I actually talked about it with some colleagues before. Personally, I think that this is a combination of many factors beyond the simple definition of crab thinking.

First of all, as far as I can see, Filipinos do not like much change in fact I think that this is the real cause of the attitude of "Baharana" and the phenomenon we call crab spirit I will. Filipinos call it a crab's mentality. Many Filipinos do not like people living a better life, especially if they live next to their house and they can often see them.
