Why Did God Ask for Animal Sacrifice?

Why did God ask the Israelites to sacrifice animals such as cattle, sheep, and goats? This is not because God likes the taste of grilled meat.

Moses explained to the Pharaoh why the people of Israel must be allowed to go to the desert to sacrifice the Lord; their sacrifice is a "detective" for the Egyptians (Exodus 8: 25-27 ). In other words, the Israelites want to sacrifice the gods worshiped by Egyptians to God.

By killing these animals, God symbolically slaughtered the Egyptian gods. "I will kill, whether I be the firstborn of the country of Egypt, man or livestock, I will judge in Egyptian gods" (Exodus 12: 12 ). This eventually broke Pharaoh (Exodus 12: 30-31). Moses left God's people from Egypt, crossed the Red Sea, and led to enter the desert.
