Citizens of the Constantinople Empire consider them to be citizens of Rome. Even after Rome entered the 5th century, the modern Romans felt that the empire survived by moving the east. Thus, east and west of Rome are the same. It is for the first time that historians have defined the title of the Byzantine Empire as the remaining will of the East Roman Empire. Historians make this distinction because of the cultural differences between the East and the West. These differences include differences in religion, language, and architecture between the two cities.

In addition to the obvious linguistic and religious differences between Rome and Constantinople there are other important cultural differences. The Eastern Roman Empire has more international character than West Rome and accepts various philosophies, religions and ideas from Roman cities. Rome is an important trade and commercial center, but Constantinople is one of many important cities in eastern part. It can be said that the Roman Empire of Constantinople is like urban culture rather than the central culture of the Roman era.

Due to the nature of the eastern city, it has a large population per square mile. The east is much richer than the west. The distribution of the wealth of the empire is more uniform than the east, as a result the class struggle will be less and the harmony will be higher. Western Rome has plenty of land, but most of the land is undeveloped. In the eastern part, the trade center is firmly established, establishing a strong trade network with Asia.

There is another important difference between the church and the state. At the end of the Roman Empire, the Roman Catholic Church imposed quite the authority on the emperor. In the east, the emperor established a system that the state has firm power over the church, and the two organizations remain separate. There are other differences in the legal field. In Western Rome, the law varies from region to region. The Eastern Roman Empire has enacted unified laws and regulations for the entire empire. This makes society more unified. With the network of wealth and trade owned by the Byzantine Empire, the separation of church and state, and the development of legal system, even after Rome became a barbarian invader, it prospered all the while.

The collapse of the Roman Empire was caused by many reasons. The main reason for the decline of the Roman Empire is that the division between the East and West Rome occurred in the year 285 AD. In the following years, the well-trained Roman army remembered German barbarians. Then in the third century A. D. Roman soldiers were pulled back from the line and the Danube border to fight in Italy. It opened the border to the Roman border. German hunters and nomads from the north gradually began to transcend the land of Rome in Greece and Gaul (after France). Then in 476 AD, the germanian general Odoacel or Odvacard overturned the last Roman Empire Augusturum Romulus. Since then the western part of the empire has been ruled by the germanian chief. Roads and bridges have been devastated for a long time, and the fields are stagnating. Pirates and thieves endanger the trip. Without agricultural products, trade and commerce began to disappear and the city can not last.

In the second half of the history of the Roman Empire, it was divided into administrative objectives, divided into the eastern half and the western half. The western half was occupied by goats in the 5th century, but the east half continued to exist until the Turks conquered it in the 15th century. The eastern half of the Roman Empire developed into what we call the Byzantine Empire and inherited all customs and customs of the Roman Empire. The main change is that Greek (not Latin) gradually became the official language. Therefore the Byzantine Empire is the continuation of the eastern half of the Roman Empire.
