Constance Fung November 3, 2015 Block 3 Earthquake: Image Essay At Jack Hodgins' short story 'Earthquake', a series of tumbling bricks embodies the theme, human-nature relationship. In the earthquake, the boy started to realize that the earth is not always strong under the feet, so I could understand how powerful the character is compared to human power. Thus, through the image of the collapse of the bricks, the story clearly shows how nature is ultimately more powerful than human beings. The image of red bricks falling from the roof shows that nature is much stronger than humans. As the earthquake proceeded, the red brick fell violently from the balcony, the boy looked helpless, and he began to understand the amount of control the earth had.
