The new "Equality Law" came into effect on October 1, 2010. The Equal Law is a summary of over 116 separate laws in one bill. Together, they form a new bill that protects individual rights and provides a legal framework for promoting equal opportunities for all.

This law simplifies, strengthens, harmonizes existing laws, provides new discrimination laws to the UK, protects individuals from unfair treatment, and promotes a fair and just society.
