What is a wetland?

There are various kinds of wetlands and there are many ways to classify them. NOAA divides wetlands into five categories: ocean, estuary (estuary), river (river), lake (lake) and wetlands (wetlands). Common names of wetlands include wetlands, estuaries, mangroves, tidal flats, wetlands, marshes, wetlands, deltas, coral reefs, sinks, lagoons, shallows, wetlands, lakes and floodplains.

Due to soil, topography, climate, water chemistry and vegetation differences wetlands are often seen with waterways and flood plains. Wetlands can also be made up of several small wetland types.

The wetland habitat plays an important role in the ecosystem, such as function as a water purifier, prevention of flooding and erosion, provision of food and dwelling for fish and wildlife. However, they do not only support animals and plants in the watershed. Because the water level varies according to the season, many wetlands are not wet all year round. If there is too much rain, wetlands absorb floods and slow down. This will help reduce physical damage and even save lives.

Wetlands also absorb excess nutrients, sediments and other pollutants before reaching rivers, lakes and other bodies of water. It is a perfect place for fishing, canoeing, hiking, bird watching and outdoor "classrooms" for people of all ages.

Wetlands were found along waterways and floodplains. They are all shapes and sizes. Wetlands filter water to prevent flooding and erosion. Wetlands were once thought of as useless wetlands. But now, we know that they are home to abundant fish and wildlife.

Many people really do not know what 'wetlands' are. Wetlands are part of the land and are part of the basin. Wetlands in the United States are classified by wetlands, wetlands, wetlands, wetlands, wet meadows, and seasonal basins (US Environmental Protection Agency). These categories are just a few of many categories. They can also consist of arid lands. Wetlands are a big problem because they are not protected by many wetland policies and laws. Many dry wetlands were found in the basin. It is usually the first to block outflow from surface water or underground water from agricultural practices (Whigham, 1999). Wetlands act as natural filters, provide entertainment and provide habitat for many species.

Fish and wild animals use wetlands to varying degrees according to the species involved. Some people only live in wetlands throughout their lifetime, others need livelihood wetland habitat at least in part, others use wetlands often used for eating. In other words, wetlands are the main habitat for many species, which means that these species depend on them for survival and for others the wetlands provide important seasonal habitats (Fig. 8)

The current state of wetlands is constantly changing. Wetland recovery seems to have increased since the wetland management program in the 1980s. Nonetheless, hundreds of thousands of acres of wetlands are being discharged annually, despite efforts to protect the land. Southeastern state wetland losses including Florida accounted for 89% of the same wetland loss nationwide from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s.

Site selection - Project land sites are usually selected (relaxed) based on policies that require the repair or construction of wetlands to compensate for the loss of available sites or neighboring wetlands. The structure, function and durability of wetlands are greatly influenced by their position. Wetlands in environments where human activity is restricted may differ greatly in structure and function from wetlands controlled by human activities. Therefore, when selecting a site, you need to consider the current and predicted land use of the surrounding area. The characteristics of existing wetlands in the same wide area or areas with similar land use can be used as models expected for project wetlands. If you become cautious when choosing a site, you can benefit beyond wetlands themselves from the arrangement of wetlands.
