What is a Physical Anthropologist?

A physical anthropologist is a scientist who studies human biology. Physical anthropology is one of the four subfields of anthropology - the other three are cultural anthropology, archeology and linguistics. Physics anthropologists are studying human evolution and human biodiversity (past and present) in the context of culture, history and behavior. Some physique anthropologists are also studying nonhuman primates such as chimpanzees.

Forensic anthropologists often analyze human bodies in criminal investigations. Their work on the human body helps to discover the crime by evaluating the age, gender, physique, pedigree and unique features of bone, including recording bone trauma and postmortem interval.
