What do you want to know? What do I need to know? Careful planning is essential to a successful community evaluation. We often start with a broad perspective and a series of ambitious targets. That is what we want to know. However, given the finance, manpower, and the expertise we can use, these ambitions may have to be relaxed. Then we have to prioritize and decide what we think we need the most to know. Please consider the following seven considerations when determining the scale and scope of the assessment. 1) the range of possible interventions after evaluation, 2) the geographical or target area of work, 3) the size of the planning team People and expertise - but remember, you collect data, 5) available funds And in-kind aid, 6) potential difficulty or mitigation data collection, and 7) can involve community members in the expected visibility or potential impact of assessment
