American College of Nurse (ANA) Code of Ethics provides many specialized features that can be incorporated into an interdisciplinary medical expert team such as love and respect, advocacy, responsibility for nursing practice, caregiving progress, etc. (Cherry, 2011). Compassion is a very important aspect of nursing career. If you are not caring, it is difficult to become a nurse. Nurses actively listen to questions and concerns of patients and their families, show sympathy and respect for work and show empathy at the right time. Advocacy is a trait of care used in an interdisciplinary team as a whole. Nurses insist on autonomy of decision-making in patient care, treatment, and procedures. Furthermore, nurses are most likely to be a bridge between patients and interdisciplinary teams. Accountability is important in nursing occupation. Nurses are responsible for their nursing practice and patients.
Nursing has evolved from professional development to specialists with emphasis on education, skills, and responsibility. Recently the emergence of the role of nurse practitioner further promotes the status of nursing professionals and the impact on healthcare systems. The nurse is still subordinate to medicine, but the nurse exercises autonomy in a limited way without accepting the passive role of the doctor, but its position changed professionally. In the case of Pakistan, the boundary between nursing care and treatment leads to empowerment of nursing staff and encourages nurses and doctors to work in mutually respecting relationships.
Today, nurses must have knowledge and awareness about occupational values as a standard for providing safe and high quality ethical care. Nurse awareness of expert values affects decision making and patient care. Therefore, this research aims to study the importance of professional values from the viewpoint of clinical nurse. The current cross-sectional study was held in four educational hospitals in Kerman Medical College in Iran in 2016. Data was collected by Weis and Schank's Persian Care Professional Value Scale (NPVS-R). Sampling was done using stratified random sampling, and 250 clinical nurses participated in the study.
