WGBH talks with Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world, located on the south shore of the Yamuna River in Agra. The most beautiful building in the world - Taj Mahal is made from Rajasthan marble, Rajasthan. Taj Mahal was formed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumutasmaharu. This is a grave meaning the palace. There are three lush gardens, rooms and mosques in Taj Mahal. Construction of Mahal was completed in 1643, but the external phase and the other stages of the project ceased 10 years again, and the entire site and the construction were completed in 1653.

Taj Mahal was ordered from Shah Jahan in 1631 to commemorate the Persian princess Mumutaz Mahal who died in a 14-year-old child, Gauhara Begum. The construction of Taj Mahal began in 1632. Shah Jahan's grief court after Mumtaz Mahal's death shows a love story inspired by Taj Mahal. The main mausoleum was completed in 1643, surrounding buildings and gardens were completed in about 5 years.

Taj Mahal is a mausoleum in Agra, India and was built under the Mogul emperor Shah Jahan to commemorate his favorite wife Mutaza Mahal. Taj Mahal (aka "Taj Mahal") is thought to be the best example of Mughal architecture which merged elements of Persian, Turkish, Indian and Islamic architectural styles. In 1983, Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was admired as "one of the most respected masterpieces of World heritage, which is a jewel of Islamic art in India".
