Western Attitudes Towards China

Philippe Aries describes four consecutive periods in which these attitudes evolve and change (1). For this purpose, Aries uses literature such as ancient texts, romantic stories, and novels to explore and retrieve the attitudes of people of all ages / era he studies. This method has been criticized (2). But it seems to be the best way to exploit history and to find the beliefs and attitudes of people who passed away hundreds of years ago.

Western culture and Persian civilization are two ancient civilizations with their own characteristics and attitudes towards the existence of subjects such as death. Some people think that the meaning of "Western attitude" includes excessive generalization that ignores diversity that exists in Western culture (2). However, as a pioneering work of Philip Aries, discussed below, the general tendency of culture and state of mind in Western civilization can be found through effective methodology and defensive results (1). The same applies to Persian culture.
