West Virginia Politicians

West Virginia has a strong record of diverse history and struggle. From early settlers to current citizens, they can always find a way to survival and success (Wilson, 1990). West Virginia's economic struggle is due to outsourcing resources, income, capital and information over the past 100 years (Cometti, 1966). It relies on state and federal grants and other welfare programs to help local citizens eat, dress and evacuate themselves (Erickson, 1986).

Political institutions in West Virginia have supported the coal industry. The annual West Virginia coal symposium will show close relationships with politicians and industry stakeholders. Last year, Governor Joe Manchin and Senator Jay Rockefeller attended the meeting, advocating a way to turn climate change law into industry advantage and reduce regulatory burden. "The government must be your ally and not your opponent," Mr. Muntin told the coal industry representative.

John Davidson "Jay" Rockefeller IV (born June 18, 1937) was an American politician and served as a US senator in West Virginia (1985 - 2015). He was elected Senate for the first time in 1984 and served as governor of West Virginia (1977 - 1985). Rockefeller moved to Emmons West Virginia as a staff member of VISTA in 1964 and was elected the first Representative of West Virginia State (1966). Rockefeller was later elected West Virginia Governor (1968) and served as the president of Wesleyan University in West Virginia (1973 - 1975). When the long-time senator Robert Bird died in June 2010, he became a state senator in the United States.

From 1932 to 1996, West Virginia voted 17 times for the Democratic Party 14 times. West Virginia is considered one of the safest democratic fortress in the country. So how can the cards win the state that some of the most advanced Republican politicians in the century can not do? What about the outstanding efforts of the cards to save the coal industry?
