Wasting Products Such as Water and Food

I am doing CNA for 3 years at a good Samaritan nursing home. I noticed that the amount of waste is increasing. I admit that I am angry and deeply worried about the waste of water and food at my home. I have observed and concluded that wasting the product is not only due to the patient but also the staff. After emphasizing the importance of water and food in our daily lives and explaining how they are being wasted, I have some challenging to break the unnecessary waste cycle We present a practical solution.

When we waste our food, we waste all the resources we need to produce food, including water. Unfortunately, in the United States 30 to 40% of food is wasted, nearly 500,000 gallons of water is wasted each year. Therefore, not to waste food is a prudent way to reduce footprint and food costs. Water is very wastefully used during food processing. For example, a 1 liter soda water bottle contains 1 liter of water as well as additional ingredients. This small bottle needs about 400 liters of water. This is 400 times the amount of liquid in the bottle. The amount of water required for a cup of apple juice is 60 gallons, but the amount of water needed for an apple is only 18 gallons.

Large quantities of food produced are wasted around the world. Production of wasted food has a major impact on resources, but little is known about the energy and water consumed to process food waste. Here we will explain food waste in the Food - Energy - Water (FEW) relationship, analyze the impact of various FEWs by producing uneatable food and managing food loss and waste. We found that various food waste management programs such as waste prevention, landfilling, composting, anaerobic digestion and incineration provide a viable path for the impacts and opportunities of the FEW. In addition, comprehensive and sustainable management of food waste involves multiple levels of governance and multiple mechanisms and entities at the individual consumer level. In order to solve the complicated food waste problem, we proposed a "food waste system" method to optimize resources within the FEW.
