Waste Land Essay: All is Not Well

Everything in the wasteland is not suitable for Elliot's "wasteland". Regardless of the number of birth gods and oriental philosophies, this poem has no meaning, regardless of the number of symbols and suggestions that critics or Elliot himself explained. But it does not have to be good or intentional. All you need is meaning, it does not need to be meaningful. The meaning of "wasted land" is wrong to me - something very distorted "rotten" is inherently wrong.

Let's break it. In the United States, nearly half of the food we produce is wasted. This means that all labor, resources, land and energy entering it will be wasted. All of the energy and resources used to make useless foods have a great influence on climate change, suck clean water and compact wildlife. All 13% of the US carbon dioxide emissions come from the production, storage and distribution of food that you have never eaten. Increasing waste of food accounts for 21% of freshwater use and 80 million acres of lost habitat

From the use of land and water to greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, agriculture actually changed the surface of the earth. When food is wasted, all natural resources going into production - including the sacrifices of wildlife and wild plants in industrial agriculture - are inherently thrown away. And we wasted a lot of food. 40% of American food is not eaten. Land of 80 million acres is wasted. That is the amount that has never been eaten in the US farmland. It is the same as taking the entire Florida and Georgia from the map. With this land, you can build 35 more Yellowstone national parks. This is a lot of space that we can return to wildlife.

Looking at land use, about 1.4 billion hectares of land (about one-third of the total farmland in the world) is used for cultivating waste food. Millions of gallons of oil are wasted each year to produce unable to eat food. All of them do not even consider the adverse effects of biodiversity, such as conversion to single afforestation and wild land agricultural land. In order to suppress food waste, it is necessary to make changes at every stage of the process, from farmers and food processors to supermarkets and individual customers. As a first step, you should give priority to balancing production and demand. Basically, this means that less natural resources are used to produce unnecessary food.

The amount of wasted resources annually in a country is incredible. Supporting this consumption is all but sustainability. We not only waste water, but also the land has been destroyed. All the lands used to produce agriculture can be used for thousands of different plant lives.
