When Gatsby returned from the war he quickly discovered what happened and his dreams resolved. He will become rich, become a popular person, and will regain Daisy Fay. That is his dream. Nick suggested that Gatsby forgot Daisy and leave Long Island, but Gatsby did not consider leaving the West. The gloomy Gatsby told Nick to pursue Daisy in Louisville in 1917. He said that he loves her youth and vitality, and worships her social position, wealth and popularity. He added that she is the first girl to be intimate with him, and he lied that his background made her believe she deserved her.
