Volunteerism is Increasing

Research shows that, in the past recession, the proportion of volunteer activities usually declines. Regardless of whether it is an economic volunteer or not, it is still stable. According to a report issued by National and Community Services Corporation (CNCS), 61.8 million (26.4%) Americans participated voluntarily through non-profit organizations last year. Based on these figures, these figures indicate that 824,010 residents of Orange County volunteered to participate in our community's non-profit group last year.

To participate in the goal of sustainable development, it is not enough to just eliminate poverty, eliminate global hunger, and eliminate gender inequality. According to US charitable organizations, the volunteer program saves $ 1,000 to $ 6,000 per employee. Furthermore, according to AIESEC, 81% of the Mileenial generation believes that companies will play an important role in achieving sustainable development goals. Consumers are getting higher expectations and lower confidence than ever and support organizations that focus not only on their wallet but on their financial revenue. Therefore, doing the right thing is actually worthwhile.

The patriotism of the Millennial generation has turned into more citizen participation and volunteer activities. Annual survey at the University of California Los Angeles showed that volunteer service of this generation was unusually high. In 2005, 83% of new students voluntarily enrolled in high school, 71% a week. We are also more politically involved. In the 2004 and 2008 elections, the number of voters between the ages of 18 and 29 has increased significantly. The Millennial generation is living the life of most adults in this security-enhanced world. There are few people remembering that families can pick up passengers at their boarding gate before the Traffic Security Bureau exists or after the flight. There are signs and signs of color-coded threats according to the interstate freeway, bus, subway, and it became a general reality to say "please say something if you see something"
