Volunteering and Leadership

Especially for many organizations listed on volunteerewny.org it is not difficult to find a volunteer organization. Looking at these organizations, I immediately discovered something I was interested in: the Buffalo Science Museum. I followed the link until I got to the museum's contact information. Before contacting me, I had to wait a week and I asked myself to call the museum to explain in detail when I wanted to be a volunteer. Only after the scheduled date and time, I noticed that the museum is not nearby and I have to solve traffic problems.

I had a chance last week. In the 2017 national volunteer participation leadership summit held in Saint Paul, Minnesota, I took a few days learning from participation of volunteers around the world and participated. At this summit I was inspired to do better. I apply the principle of sustainability to participation in practice and challenge a new innovative concept of "renewable volunteer management". However, as we reported last week, the most influential idea comes from Rob Jackson, director of Rob Jackson Consulting. At the end of the edge meeting (Beyond Volunteers: why you may choose to lead more than volunteers) I have opportunity to participate and Rob recommends to write down the action project we devote to I will. We think we can go to meetings, attend seminars, challenge and encourage, but unless you choose to take action, that's all useless.

Just like President and State State speech, I will speak at Nature Conservancy's annual volunteer leadership summit and do the same for our wonderful organization. Since we always look back on the past hundreds of years of experience, I like to talk with hundreds of TNC volunteer councilors and global board members from all over the world. Tim's father and grandfather are both farmers. He wishes his children and grandchildren to do so again. He considers himself a good citizen and a good administrator of this land. Therefore, when people criticize farmers about harming the environment, he will be perplexed. He is very worried about nature - indeed, his living depends on nature

The best result from volunteer activities is to have a platform to acquire the characteristics of leadership and to practice leadership without major loss. You can test your limit and you can see which leader you are. Some people think leaders were born, but if you work as an unorganized volunteer, that concept will definitely change. Leaders are not born, they are being created. And in order to become a good leader people need knowledge and experience. Volunteer activities often offer a wealth of opportunities to demonstrate leadership in these areas and to work in areas that still need improvement.
