Your time and talent are important resources to fight hunger. Every year, volunteers give us nearly 30,000 hours.
We rely on volunteers to help implement various dynamic projects. People like you are necessary to help our farm grow vegetables, weeds and vegetables. We sort agricultural products and other goods in our warehouse and pack it. Or help us release our special event, office or mobile food pantry
Most volunteer opportunities are 2-3 hours and we welcome one-off or ongoing commitment. Weekday, evening, weekend - you need volunteers to keep you at your disposal
We have the opportunity for business, community and school groups. We also offer choices for individuals and families who want to volunteer together. Children are welcome!
If you have any questions or if you want to cooperate with us, please send an e-mail to Volunteer @ FeedWestchester.Org or call 914-923-1100.
What is a volunteer? What is the value of a volunteer? Is it volunteering about money? Should we measure this way? Most people will refuse. Volunteers are not money. Volunteer activities are to contribute and contribute to other individuals and communities as a whole. We are cooperating with other people to make meaningful contributions to better communities. The reasons for people's volunteers are various. Many people want to get experienced, master new skills, meet new people, expand the network of contacts, start a new job or start a career. Other people just want to give back to the community, help friends, and promote precious activities. They do this because they make you feel better. It gave them "private smile" as explained by Dan O'Grady, current Calgary volunteer chairman.
There are many factors to make us volunteer. This may be an opportunity to hone new skills and try different careers. One of the great benefits of volunteering is that you can experience new positions outside of your daily work without incurring a lot of work related results. Go ahead: Please try what you have learned. The more detailed and more eye-catching the title, the better. Do not limit it to publishing "necessary volunteers". We will provide some hooks to gather the attention of potential readers, including the concrete content of the work. For example, "Please help me prepare a low-income student to attend school" and "Please participate in our marketing" street team "for information on non-profit theaters / community centers".
Scenario 2: The non-profit organization's financial manager who helps low-income women find work and receive calls from the volunteer center. Course: You do not have to pay volunteer, 500 hour former corrupt bookkeeping, money, but you have to complete the paperwork for her probation officer every week. Should you say that? Some nonprofits are pleased to have more opportunities to get more help. Others are tired of this concept. Everyone has an opinion on whether these certified workers really become "volunteers" or not. In fact, some courts are questioning whether asking for unpaid services is "involuntary slavery" (not so). A colleague in Canada has created the term "volunteer" to express the view of a compulsory volunteer.
