For those unfamiliar with the history of Hawaii volcano it is important to note that there are five volcanoes on the island. Kilauea is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Mauna Loa Island also lives on the island, and this volcano is often called "a sleeping giant". Mauna Loa is considered to be the world's largest active volcano, and the area is only Tam Mountain (extinct volcano). Mauna Loa is considered to be the only Hawaiian volcano in Kilauea, and it is actively supplying from the bottom magma reservoir.

Mauna Loa rose to 136,79 feet above sea level and it is the 66th peak in the United States. It is generally thought to be the largest active volcano on the planet, and Mauna Loa began erupting about 700,000 years ago. The volcano is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and is closely monitored by several observation platforms such as the Hawaii Volcano Observatory.

When studying volcanoes in the world it is important to understand the classification of volcanoes and how they work. Several factors are considered when trying to classify volcanoes into groups, such as recent activities, duration of volcanic eruption, scale, potential impact, and so on. Although listening to it is not common, volcanic eruptions are not uncommon. Volcano classification refers to the life cycle that can usually be defined as activity, extinction or dormancy. However, volcanoes can also be classified by the composition of the structure, which means that it can be a shield, a cone or layered volcano. Finally, they can be classified as they may be quiet or explosive.
