Scientists of the USGS volcanic disaster program are active in five US volcanic observatory stations. One of the main objectives of the Observatory is to become an authoritative source of inspiration for our country's volcanoes.

The Hawaiian Volcanic Observatory (HVO) is the oldest of the five with a long history and has written regular articles on volcanic activity and scientific research on Hawaii Volcano.
