Virtue of the Week: Tolerance

Tolerance is to accept the difference. Do not expect others to think, see, talk, and act like yours. You know that everyone has emotions, needs, hopes, and dreams, and you have no prejudice.

I am very tolerant. I appreciate the difference. I ignored people's mistakes. I accepted not much change.

Resistance is not itself a virtue. If the student allows drunk driving, his tolerance is not good. The allowable range is neutral. When students use racial discrimination, his problem is not the lack of tolerance, but the lack of goodwill and pride (the root of belief in racial superiority). When students tease classmates in a class discussion, his problem is not lack of tolerance, but lack of courtesy. We teach that perseverance is moral virtue. Intolerance is definitely not moral, but the more tolerant it is, the more obvious it is not moral. Morality is not passive. Tolerance and passivity are synonyms. It is therefore quite clear that tolerance and comprehensive compliance is a unique statement "obedient, agree all."
