Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Reunites Two Great Masterpieces by Paolo de' Matteis

Virginia Richmond - This loan was reshared with two masterpieces by late Italian Baroque style painter Paolo de 'Matteis. Paolo de Matteis (aka Paolo de 'Matteis) (February 9, 1662 - January 26, 1728) is an Italian painter

He was born in Cilento near Salerno and died in Naples. He trained at Francesco di Maria in Naples and then at Luca Giordano. He came to Spain's Governor of Naples. From 1702 to 1705 de 'Matteis worked in Paris, Calabria, Genoa. In Genoa, he painted a perfect concept, Saint Jerome appeared in Sansefrio. After returning to Naples, he painted the decoration of the church of Naples, including the vault room of St. Ignatius church of Gesu Nuovo church in Naples.
