Violence Against the Elderly: a cross-cultural perspective

According to Ontario police, the abuse of the elderly is defined as "an act or omission that poses a hazard or threat to the elderly." As of 2004, Comprehensive Social Survey (GSS) found that in the 12 months prior to the survey, elderly people are less likely to feel three times more frustrating than non-elderly people and experienced at least 12 months before the survey I showed 10% of elderly people. I suffered once. This shows that every society has violence against the elderly, and now this violence has just begun to increase.

There is controversy over the influence of religion on domestic violence. According to a cross-cultural perspective of domestic violence, there are several religious poems that "there is no religious sanctions against violence against women" but supports "discrimination against women in the community" beyond the background. There are various opinions about the influence of religion on domestic violence. Some authors like Phyllis Chesler believe that Islam is related to violence against women, especially in the form of honor killings, but professors of women's problems at Aga Khan University in Pakistan, like others Tahila Shahid Tahira Shahid Khan argues that women's superiority in society and low ranking of women bring these behaviors rather than religion itself. The relationship of the general public (such as via media) and political discourse on Islam, the relationship between immigrants and violence against women is very controversial in many Western countries.

Violence against women and girls in East Timor is extensive and is one of the biggest challenges facing this young country. It spans the income, culture and classification of the country. According to the 2016 Nabilan Baseline Study of the Asia Foundation, 59% of women aged 15 to 49 are experiencing physical or sexual violence by an intimate male partner among intimate partners of men. In addition to closer partner violence, the report also found that 14% of all 15-49 year old women were being raped by non-partners during their lifetime. According to Nabilan's survey, this non-partner sexual violence is most likely from nearby families, strangers, men.

Domestic violence is the most common form of violence spreading in Pakistan and almost all families have some form of domestic violence against women, children and certain elderly families. It includes intimate partner violence, family spiritual torture, wife's assault, and teasing. The severity of domestic violence has resulted in killing by using other means including incineration of murder in the furnace and suffocation. Although cases of death are rare, in Pakistan the wives' assault, torture, and the effects of specific movements and interactions are the most common forms of domestic violence. Women continue suffering from domestic violence, keeping family and protecting their secrets keeps respect for their families. And most importantly, there is no choice against such violence. They do not understand related laws
