Victoria Cross is a soldier beyond expectation in the war. They take risks and sometimes devote their lives to save others. In World War II, only 16 Canadians won medals. Among the winners are Charles Hoy, Charles Merritt, Andrew Minnuski, John Osbourne, Ernest Smith, Frederic Topham, Ian Bazar Get and Frederic Tilston. On February 16, 1944, "Major Hoy's company established a unit to deprive everyone of their sacrifice" (2014 Charles Ferguson Hoi Veterans Affairs Bureau)
Winner of the First World War Victoria Cross. He served as captain of the 38th battalion of the Canadian expedition. On April 9, 1917, Captain McDowell arrived in Germany with the help of two competitors, in front of a company in Vimyrique, France. After destroying the nest of the machine gun, he chased the crew from the other person and found a German who entered the tunnel. At the bottom of the tunnel, he was able to deceive the Germans to think he is a greater force. And it brought the surrender of two German officers and 75 German soldiers. He sent prisoners from the tunnel in a group of twelve people so that his runners could return them to the Canadian line. When I saw him being cheated, a German prisoner tried grabbing the rifle and shooting one of the runners, then the Germans shot down. He hurt his hand, but continued for five days, and despite the intense bombardment, he maintained his status until his battalion was finally lifted.
