Vicente Martinez-Ybor Bicentennial Celebration

In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Vicente Martinez-Yeball's birth, he founded the foundation for the development of Tampa's iconic cigar industry and founded Yehball City

His grandchildren Rafael Martinez-y-Ball, prominent EJ Sarcanes and famous speakers will participate in a ceremony commemorating the Igor's accomplishments and contributions. Ball City's cultural and commercial groups such as the Italian club, Las Damas del Centro Asturias, Yeball City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yeol Chamber of Commerce and Industry will participate in this event.

Participants can enjoy live music, dim sum, domino game, cigar rolling demonstration, voter style prize paintings, and other events that represent the Wobo City cultural heritage of the HCC Ibar Alumni Association Jazz Band. We are open to the public for admission free. Reservations are necessary and participants must present printed tickets on the event registration form.

To celebrate the 200th anniversary, Ybor City Museum State Park can enter free from 1 pm to 5 pm on September 7. In order to participate in the evening celebration at 5 to 8 pm, it is necessary to register in advance and print tickets for each participant.

September 7, 2018 is the 200th birthday of Vicente Martinez-Ybor, the founder of Ybor City, Tampa's historic building. Ybor arrived in a sleepy Tampa fishing village at the age of 67 in 1885 and is the first company to establish a cigar industry in Ybor City. By 1886, the first cigar was produced, but at the factories of Sanchez and Haya, the starting point of his company's town was adequate. When he transferred his cigar business from Key West to Tampa, Ybor encouraged other cigar manufacturers to follow it as well.
